The Veneto is among the most industrialized and the wealthiest regions in Italy and it is also the most visited. Every year around 60 million tourists visit the Veneto. Agriculture is also is quite a significant factor even though since the last two decades its importance has been decreasing. However, the agriculture sector of the region is regarded as the most productive in Northern Italy.
Through the plains of the region, wine grapes, fruits and vegetables are the most important but grain crops such as rice and corn are also grown. When shopping in the Veneto keep in mind that many of the best products are grown or made in the countryside, away from the tourists.
