More Tours of Rome
Until you’ve tasted, touched and experienced Rome, you’ll not know the historical authority and wonder this spectacular Italian City demands in its spectators. There’s a tremendous presence about the ancient Roman people, land and the numerous sights this City offers. As a matter of fact, it’s said more than once that a lifetime isn’t long enough to see Rome, instead choose what suits you. This is quite true. Find what interests you and enjoy every bit of it. For us, like many tourists to a foreign country, we knew the obvious and main attractions in Rome. However, the exciting part of experiencing a City sometime rests in the off-the-path places. So, here are some places you might enjoy for your Rome itineraries.
Day 1- THE FORUMS
For those of you like us who didn’t exactly know what a Forum was, let me bring some understanding. A Forum is religious complex, civic center and shopping malls all round up in one. However, the excellence and overwhelming structures are far more than just that. These richly decorated public spaces have been used over many centuries to gather the cultured Romans of the City and share life together.
Roman Forum
One of the oldest and most famous Forums is the Roman Forum. This spectacular sight grew over the course of 900 years. The land was first developed in the 7th century BC and was a much loved place for the Roman Republic. In the middle ages it was toiled and plundered for its marble and stone, one of the magnificent parts of Roman culture. This Forum was also used during the Renaissance to provide inspiration and motivation for the artists and architects who gathered as a market place of ideas and exchange. The area now stands excavated and beautifully represents the incredible history and chain of events of the many years.
You enter the Roman Forum through Via dei Fori Imperiali, discovering numerous sights immediately. The entire Forum is filled with many sights; Tempio di Antonino e Faustina, chiesa di San Lorenzo in Miranda, Basilica Fulvia Aemilia and many more along the way.
You’ll see in this grand Forum the old meeting place for the Roman senate, which was rebuilt by Julius Caesar, Augustus, Domitian and Diocletian. These leaders converted this great Forum into a powerful display of the Christian Church. The beautiful bronze doors of the Forum and the incredible décor represent the amazing leaders who valued this Forum as Roman heritage and tradition.
Day 2- VILLA BORGHESE
Another spectacular and breath taking experience within Rome is the amazing views. There are many incredible landscapes throughout Rome that you could rest in for hours and enjoy the sounds and smells of this magnificent place. One of the grandest experiences about being in this incredible City is the unmatchable landscape. Literally, the acres upon acres of outdoor spaces demonstrate such beauty and brilliance; you won’t want to miss it.
Villa Borghese
The Villa Borghese is one of those great places. In case you’re not quite sure what the Villa Borghese is, it’s a beautiful park coated with the Spanish steps of the Royalty Cardinal Scipione Borghese old estate. This of course is not the type of “park” you might think of, it’s referred to as park signifying the space and place, however rests in grand and luxurious display rooms. As a matter of fact, this phenomenal land offers some of the most incredible views, art exhibits and Royal collections in Rome. The Museo e Galleria Borghese can only be found in the exquisite place, displaying the great history and art of Borghese’s day. The ground floor museum offers mosaic sculptures and graphic depictions of pagan myths, that some say take your breath away. The Pinacoteca is full of the masterpieces from the Royal line and famous artists. This magnificent demonstration of art, history, royalty and heritage will well be worth the visit.

Day 3- TRASTEVERE
Trastevere is one of the most picturesque parts of Rome. It sits over the River from Centro Storico and has undergone significant changes. This area used to be owned by the poor to working class, but was taken over by wealthy foreigners who were impressed with its amazing, photogenic streetscapes. Today, this area exhibits and displays some of the quaintest bars, cafés in Rome and trattorias.
Piazza Santa Maria In Trastevere
This animated night spot is full of crowds and locals alike. It’s a great way to meet locals and experience authentic Roman culture, while also remaining in the relevance of your experience. There’s a fountain in the center of the square that is a 17th Century restoration of the original.
Basilica di Santa Maria in Trastevere
Of course within the same area, and tucked away in the corner of the piazza, is the Basilica di Santa Maria. This is said to be the oldest church dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Rome. It was originally built in AD337, it holds the Romanesque Bell Tower. There are 21 beautiful ancient Roman columns that hold this architectural masterpiece up. Whatever your personal religious beliefs may be, the mere structure alone demands respect.
Ponte Sisto
This great site is actually within a short walk as well from the Basilica Santa Maria. As a matter of fact, this is the prestigious pedestrian bridge that leads back across the Tiber. To many, this beautiful bridge alone becomes a resting place for the evening to glance the water, people watch and breathe in the authentic Roman culture and air. This great bridge is surrounded by the Piazza Trilussa and the picturesque atmosphere it offers, particularly at night. This is said to be one of the best areas to experience both in the day but especially for the night life of Rome.
The structural layout of this entire Piazza is worth the walk through Trastevere.
The entire area of Trastevere is quite a historic and motivational look at the Roman locals, the Spirit of Rome and the generations of people who’ve, first hand, experienced and lived this great City. As a matter of fact, much of the inspiration of the wealthy foreigners who bought land in the area is due to the amazing and unique streetscapes it offers. It’s truly one of a kind and individualistic in its identity with Rome. The attractions and atmosphere of Trastevere represent the Spirit, Tenacity and beauty of this great City of Rome.
Rome truly was one of the greatest Cities and experiences we had in Italy. It offered such authentic beauty and brilliant historical sites. Some of the greatest memories were experiencing these terrific sites, while witnessing the locals in the City. This City was more than worth the trip.
