For the first time, the Italian manufacturer introduces a V6 engine for a road’s car. But the new features aren’t over.
The new Ferrari 296 GTB was just revealed to the public. It’s a sports car with two seats, a powerful engine, and finally an eco-friendly look on vehicles. So, what’s new with this model? Let’s discover the latest, tiny, red horse from Italy.
The specs of this red, hot model
This is a 2-seater sports berlinetta with a 6 cylinder engine and 663 Cvv of horsepower. While this is the second hybrid from the house of Maranello (the first one being the SF90), the Ferrari 296 GTB is unique. Why? Because, for the first time, this model is born as a 100% electric vehicle.
The Ferrari 296 GTB is eco-friendly
The electric system is plug-in (PHEV) guarantees an autonomy of 25km, or roughly 30 miles. Thanks to the engine designed specifically for this model, this Ferrari is fast, compact, and safe. It clocks 2.9 seconds from zero to 100km/h. And 7.3 seconds to reach 200km/h. Even with the only use of the battery. Indeed, the 296 GTB can run only on the electric battery and its performance isn’t affected.
Drivers can choose between four settings of the Ferrari 296 GTB. Here’s another new feature: the eDrive mode that helps run 25 kilometers at a top speed of 135 km/h. Another driving mode is the Hybrid, which is how the vehicle turns on and the two engines work together. Then there is the Performance, with the V6 always functioning for full power. The last mode is the Qualify, with high performance and the preservation of the battery’s charge.
This sports berlinetta from Maranello is a new frontier for the red cavallino. This chassis is filled with firsts. The fist V6 engine for a vehicle that can drive on the road and the Ferrari 296 GTB is the first 100% electric model. And, of course, the tradition, innovation, and style of the Ferrari. The house of Maranello knows this model can be a stepping stone.
Innovative yet traditional Ferrari 296 GTB
”The name of the model,” said the Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Enrico Galliera to ANSA, “combines the total displacement (2,992 liters) and the number of cylinders, followed by the label GTB, meaning Gran Turismo Berlinetta, in the best sports tradition of Ferrari.” So, the name of this new car underlines the importance of the new V6 engine.
“The V6 is the true beating heart of the 296 GTB,” said Galliera, “and it is the pillar of a new era that has its roots in the experience of Ferrari.” This 70-year old experience includes the classic lines of the manufacturer and the interiors, which are both luxurious and focused on safety. It’s hands on the wheel, for the house of Maranello.
So, this car is worth the hype. Now, the big question: when is this model available? Drivers will be able to purchase the new Ferrari 296 GTB from the beginning of 2022, with a starting price tag of euro 296,000.
I wonder how they find the inspiration to always create new cars
