Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs returns to the track with 10.11″

Marcell Jacobs is quite satisfied after running 10.11” in his seasonal debut in Jacksonville, Florida. After 230 days of a complete competition break and increasingly marked silence in the media after his last performances, the Italian champion is back in the spotlight.

Pursuing the pass for the Paris Olympics

A star in athletics, born in ’94 in Texas, in El Paso. At only 20 days old, he crossed the Italian border with his mother, permanently settling in Desenzando del Garda (Brescia). Despite having dual citizenship, he has always stated that he feels exclusively Italian. He holds several Italian (and beyond) records, such as the European record for 60 meters (6.41 seconds) and 100 meters (9.80 seconds), and won the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Marcell Jacobs returns to compete for Italy, and above all, he seems to be in excellent shape. He would have liked to run faster, but he is still content and satisfied to be back on track. Currently, the Italian sprinter occupies the 15th position in the world ranking of the 100 meters, updated as of April 23, 2024.

Marcell Jacobs holds the European record in 60 and 100 m

According to official rules, athletes who have not run at least once under 10 seconds from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, do not get the pass for the Olympics unless they occupy one of the top 56 positions in the world ranking. Therefore, we await the latest updates from the official ranking, but it seems, at the moment, that the Italian sprinter can sleep soundly.

The XXXIII edition of the Olympics will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11, and we hope to see our champion with the same enthusiasm and mental tranquility that led him to win the 100m in the last edition. Marcell Jacobs was the first and only Italian ever to win the premier race in an Olympic competition, and for this reason, it is a huge pleasure to see him back on the track.
