This is the latest idea making waves about Como, one of Italy’s most enchanting cities. From the famous line, “That branch of Lake Como…” (Quel ramo del lago di Como) in Alessandro Manzoni’s I Promessi Sposi, to the notion of “Lake Como air in a can,” the story has gone global.

It’s well-known that Lake Como’s shores are irresistible to tourists and celebrities alike, hoping to capture this breathtaking scenery and perhaps even a luxury villa with a view. Among the local attractions is a visit to George Clooney’s villa, but now there’s a “souvenir” anyone can afford: a can of fresh lake air to take home, perfect for feeling a bit closer to Italy—even from thousands of miles away.
This concept was created by the communications agency Italy Srl, which launched the can of luxury air at the price of 9.90 Euros. Como’s mayor supports the initiative, too, as long as tourists remember to buy more traditional keepsakes from the city!
For some, this can means much more than just air: with 400 ml of “pure Como air”, it’s now a collectible, joining similar cans from other iconic cities like London, New York, Naples, and Milan. It’s not the first time—even in Italy—that local air has become a souvenir.
For less than 10 Euros, you can bring home a bit of lakeside charm from one of Italy’s most beautiful cities. So, what do you think… are you in?
When it comes to VIP tourism in Como, you can’t skip over George Clooney’s purchase of Villa Oleandra in 2002. He paid 10 million Euros at the time, but today its value has soared to over 100 million Euros. Clooney’s presence has attracted throngs of tourists and other celebrities, making Como one of the world’s most sought-after destinations.
Among the latest arrivals to the lake area is Kimi Räikkönen, the 2007 Formula 1 World Champion, who has chosen Como’s scenic shores as his new home. Then there’s the high-profile Ferragnez duo (Chiara Ferragni and Fedez), Italy’s top social media couple, who recently listed the iconic Villa Matilda for sale after the infamous “Pandoro Gate” controversy that sparked a lively online debate.
